I remember the first time I picked up a camera to shoot the Niagara Falls. Actually, that wasn’t the first time I ever picked up a camera, nonetheless, it’s a great story, so I’ll continue! Ok, so there I was with my mother, and my cousin, and aunt who had both come to visit New York for their first time in our lives. I was barely 11 years old, had just moved to Boston, Massachusetts, so this was the first time we all took a trip to all the north-eastern states and ended in Toronto, Canada. We were shooting pretty little pictures, throwing the bunny ears all over our snap shots, ooo-ing and aahh-ing at just about everything we were seeing. Then my mother asked: “Carolina, come here, take the picture! I want to be in it too!” I pressed the shutter as they smiled proudly, showing off the Niagara Falls behind them. And as they walked away, I stayed behind to just take in the beauty of that mighty water crashing below the surface. I could smell the fresh air sifting all around me. Feel the sprinkles of the water hitting my face lightly. See the amazing elegance that nature truly was. And I couldn’t help but want to remember that moment forever, so I took my very first picture that had meaning-just for me. And as my aunt turned around to look for me, she saw that I took the image and said: “Carolina! Why did you take that picture? It’s not a picture if people aren’t in it!”

I think back on that moment sometimes and just have to laugh. Who would have ever thought I would become a photographer? The funny thing is that I don’t even know what this story has to do with these images! 🙂 But in a way, I guess it does. You see, as a professional photographer, people hire me to take their portraits, capture their weddings, and record an important moment in their lives. Yet for me, beauty is in the simple fact that we are alive. It surrounds us everyday if we choose to see it. And yes, everyone is beautiful, just as they are. And amazingly enough, I have the privilege to freeze moments, even for one split second of time. Every time I get to go back to Germany, it truly fascinates me how differently I view that city of life. And the best part, is that I am free to capture what my heart sees. The moments of everyday living-the seconds that aren’t posed, but happen all by themselves. Those moments that show just how perfect the world truly is through it’s light, and through it’s darkness.

I know I’ve been blabbering on about how I want to upload images every time I take a trip somewhere. Unfortunately, I don’t get that luxury of time to sort through them and pick my favorites. Well guess what? I made the time today. So I hope you enjoy seeing something a little different than what I usually upload. I guess you could call these real life images. Some with people in them. Some without…

Aww, I am so happy to finally be back! I mean, I was always here, but the time has finally come to “officially” get back to work 😉 And that means, picture blogs! Watch out 2012, this one is going to be the absolute best year yet…

Ok, like I was mentioning, I’m a bit behind on blogging, so I would like to share some of the past weddings I did in November. To start, Jennifer & Ric’s wedding wins the award for absolute cutest wedding in 2011, hands down! The wedding was filled with so much emotion, happiness and things going on, I was constantly turning around to capture a the little girl giggling with her mom there, or the maid of honor touching up Jennifer’s dress in the other corner. It’s funny how my goal was only to share my 10 favorite images; yet it’s actually come down to this! I guess I’m more of a story teller and I definitely think it’s important to lay out the entire day with the best highlights.

Wishing Jennifer & Ric the most amazing lifetime together! It was a true honor for you two to choose me as your wedding photographer!

(Click the images to view them larger. Location of the wedding: Le Virage Ballroom, Houston, TX.)

Cheers to LIFE!

Well, vacation time is “officially” over and I’ve decided to start back up on work because there’s lots to do! I have to post my last 3 weddings, images for a collaboration project of my lovely friend, as well as a new photo session coming up in Munich tomorrow, so work will pile up if I don’t get to it. So with that said, I just wanted to wish everyone an amazing 2012 full of all the amazing-ness your little hearts can imagine!

Here’s a little greeting I made for ya’ll with some images I took while we stopped in Bregenz, Austria. What an incredible trip, I can’t wait to post more 🙂 I hope to lather up this blog real nice with all too many images from this trip!

Greetings from Germany! Let me start by saying: Merry Christmas!!! I can only hope that everyone’s beautiful dinner party was filled with many great blessings of love, family, and union! As I am sitting here in my family’s living room, typing away, I can honestly say, these Christmas holidays have been beyond spectacular…a Peruvian-Italian-German tradition-I absolutely love Europe 🙂 But more about that later (and pictures will be up of that soon too!).

So for now, let’s take it back to Houston for a second. Before leaving, I had the wonderful pleasure of working with several divalicious people who totally ended my last days in Texas with a BANG-here are some of my favorites of Zyania!

Whew, what a month! I can officially say, I’m happy today is the last day though 🙂 Working with deadlines has always been fun for me…I’m not sure whether it’s the added challenge, or just that little kick of stress that helps me work like a ninja with 3 hands, but I hope I painted quite a picture here. Anyway, almost done with everything before I leave to Germany–I can’t wait!

Meanwhile, somewhere in Texas:

This is of course, an image I converted into a drawing, something I rarely do in post-production, but only because of the limited time I have sometimes. Regardless, it looks really dreamy in print! I’m starting a whole 12×18 collection of big beautiful nature prints that will soon be hung up in various areas. Very exciting project, but it will take a little time before it comes to develop better…wishing everyone a happy Wednesday!

…Session? This one is definitely going to be a teaser! It’s that magical small image that I selected from a total of 23 of my favorites out of a total of almost 67 images…which is just crazy! How can you select 1 out of 23 favorite images? Well, I did. And I didn’t select only my favorite-I selected an image that was different, that had not only represented mystery but sensuality and character as well. This is Magali by the way-we did her boudoir session at Omni Hotel in Houston, Texas last Friday about 6 days ago. I had such a blast with her! As I arrived, she was excited, nervous, yet so creative and open about creating this wonderful christmas album for her husband. Since this was a complete last minute boudoir session planned all over email, it was quite a surprise as I arrived to the room and all her ideas were laid out very neatly- a selection of jewelry, beautiful clothes, as well as shoes (we all love shoes right 😉 ?)  were just waiting to be used to create art. It was quite a different experience, since I had the opportunity to incorporate her vision for her husbands’ favorites things, as well as my creative aspect for her vision. Can’t wait to have the final album design posted by the end of this month, since it all will be done before I leave!

Ok, that’s it for today! Will have to post some more later 🙂

Great Wednesday to all!

I had to write a blog post on this beautiful, unique day this year. It’s not officially an actual celebration kind-of-day, yet it’s definitely one of those “feel good” days that happens to fall on a Friday. (Not to mention that whole triple 11 thing…what’s that about? Are we living in the greatest century or what? 😉 ) Plus I just got back from shooting another beautiful lady a few hours ago, and I just have to say this: I cannot wait until I get to post those images later!

Ok, I know I’m a bit behind on blog posts, yet with Christmas only a few more weeks away, this studio has been crazy busy and I’m playing catch up just about every day. With that said, I wanted to officially announce that I will be leaving to Munich, Germany on December 13th as I’m getting several more requests intimate portrait sessions, that I will unfortunately not be able to do until I get back. Ladies, please plan ahead (think maybe Valentine’s Gift for the future) as all our albums take at least one month to design.

I’ll be back January 11th, yet you can all still reach me through email (blessed be the internet, I don’t know how I could live without it at this point.)

Like always, this post will not just be words-how could they be? So here is another little teaser for a calendar I’m currently designing!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy start to this amazing weekend ahead!

…it means: “I still dream…” (and is written at the very bottom of this picture on her side if you look closely.) Perfect expression for this picture 🙂 This post is just a little update of an image I took of a certain someone while in Florida a couple of months ago. I had done an entire shoot throughout the day with all kinds of models, a makeup artists and a wonderful hairstylist, and my friend came along and waited patiently until I was able to photograph her in the end! Well worth it…she is gorgeous (and it was her birthday yesterday)! So Happy Birthday My Little Alii Jalopeño!

Romantic setting and perfect weather-it couldn’t have gotten any better! As Emily announced that I absolutely had to get some pictures of her shoes that she had so patiently decorated herself, the excitement of the day set off as everyone dashed off to get “beautified” for the big event. Matt and his boys joked around and almost had a panic attack when they couldn’t find his shoes for a minute, yet everything turned out absolutely beautiful at Ashelynn Manor, where they had their ceremony and reception on this sweet summer day. Wishing you two the best to your amazing lives together!
